CRN Execs Discuss State of the Industry

ALBUQUERQUE—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) held its annual meeting, The Conference: Symposium on Dietary Supplements, here Oct. 2 to 4. Steve Mister, CRN’s president and CEO, and Marjorie Fine, chairman of CRN’s Board of Directors, each gave their takes on the state of the dietary supplement industry. Mister noted the association serves as the industry’s “eyes and ears” in Washington, and anticipates seeing food safety legislation, a report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on dietary supplements, and guidance on GMPs (good manufacturing practices) and NDIs (new dietary ingredients) from FDA in the new year. Fine gave a perspective on CRN’s evolution over the past 35 years, providing highlights of its work on behalf of the industry in DC and urging companies to continue to support the association.
